Repair and service for HÅG chairs

We do not just sell HÅG chairs, we repair them too — our own workshop, our own tools, the manufacturer's service documents in the house, and that includes chairs that were not bought from us. A Capisco is designed to last twenty years; most of the defects that reach us are wearing parts worth a few euros.

What we do

  • Clean or replace the gas lift — the most common case. Often maintenance is enough, and if it is not, HÅG gives a lifetime warranty on the part. More on this →
  • Renew covers, seat and back separately. More on this →
  • Replace castors, glides and footrings or convert them for a different floor. You can do this yourself too →
  • Replace the back support and backrest, including the bush with the locking lever that holds the backrest in place.
  • The headrest on the 8107: tube and neck cushion can be replaced individually.
  • Replace the seat and seat mechanism.
  • Replace bases, including a change from plastic to aluminium.

One case almost everybody considers beyond repair

The headrest slides down on its own — while you sit, or overnight. This is not a defect in the cushion and not a case for a spare part: over the years the clamping force between the two halves of the headrest tube slackens. HÅG has a service instruction of its own that restores exactly that. Besides the Capisco it affects the Credo, H04 and H05 as well.

For you that means: labour instead of a spare part. If somebody wants to sell you a new chair over this, ask us first.

Not only the Capisco

We hold the Flokk service documents for the whole HÅG family — Capisco, Capisco Puls, Futu, SoFi, Creed, H03, H04, H05 and H09, plus Conventio and Tribute. Around forty individual manufacturer instructions in all, from “replacing the seat mechanism” to “replacing the armrest pad”.

That is the difference between repairing and guessing. If your chair is ten years old, we can usually work out which part it is — even when the model has long since gone out of production.

What happens in the process — the manufacturer's videos

Flokk shows the steps on film — the manufacturer's own videos, not re-shot. The commentary is in English and every step is visible throughout; what matters most is written out above. The video is only loaded once you click it, and then plays here on the page.

Where do-it-yourself ends

Two things are stated as follows in the manufacturer's notes, and we abide by them:

  • The seat mechanism is not opened. Open it and you lose the warranty on the entire chair.
  • Covers stay where they are. That too is in every user manual.

The gas lift and the seat shell also need special tools (order numbers 149146 and 149203), on which Flokk gives no discount — for a single chair, buying them does not pay.

How an enquiry works

  1. Two photos. One of the whole chair, one of the label under the seat. The label carries the model and the production date — with those we find the right part without guessing.
  2. A short description. What is the chair doing that it should not? “Sinks”, “wobbles”, “cover worn through” is perfectly enough.
  3. Send it to us — support@hag-shop.com or +49 37346 1261.
  4. A fixed-price quotation, usually within one working day. It states what the part costs, what the labour costs, and whether the warranty applies.

What the warranty covers

  • 10 years on the chair, a lifetime on the gas lift — with use of up to nine hours a day and a user weight of up to 110 kg.
  • Spare parts for at least 10 years from the production date, for everything that preserves the original function.
  • Covers: 10 years in the Standard collection, 5 years in the Extended collection (which includes Fame).
  • The warranty is void if third-party parts are used. That is why we fit original parts only.

In person in Geyer

If you are nearby, the best thing is to drop in: in our showroom we usually repair smaller things on the spot, and at the same time you can try out whether a different cover or a different gas lift suits you better. Showroom and directions →

And if a repair is not worth it?

We will tell you that too. On a twenty-year-old chair whose mechanism and base are at the end of their life at the same time, costs quickly add up to the price of a new one. We work that out beforehand — a quotation you turn down suits us better than a repair that annoys you.
