A replacement cover for the HÅG Capisco — which one fits and how to get it
A Capisco lasts twenty years. The cover does not always — and that is no reason to replace the chair. Every cover is removable and can be reordered individually, including for models that have not been in the catalogue for years.
First: which model is in front of you?
There is a type label stuck under the seat. It carries the model number, the production date and the cover code. That label is the most reliable source — models look similar over the years, but the covers have different names.
The quickest route to the right part: take two photos — one of the whole chair, one of the label under the seat — and send both to support@hag-shop.com. We will tell you what fits and send a quotation. That usually takes one working day.
The seat cover and the back cover are two different parts
On the Capisco 8106 and 8107 both can be replaced individually. That is useful, because they wear at different rates: the seat takes the friction, the backrest usually only the light. Renew the seat alone and you pay considerably less — and will hardly notice the difference later, provided both parts have the same cover.
On the Puls models 8010 and 8020 the back shell is plastic. There the seat is the only upholstered part — on the 8010 the cushion insert, on the 8020 the removable seat cushions.
Which cover should you choose?
You are not tied to the original one. Every current cover fits every Capisco — that is the advantage of a system that has been built since 1984. The choice depends on the use:
- Xtreme (Camira) — crepe weave of recycled polyester, over 100,000 Martindale. The hardest-wearing and at the same time the least expensive. For chairs that work eight hours a day.
- Select and Capture (Gabriel) — 85% New Zealand wool, 200,000 Martindale. Wool regulates moisture, and you notice that over a long day's sitting.
- Oceanic (Camira) — recycled polyester with SEAQUAL yarn made from plastic bottles and reclaimed marine plastic. For anyone to whom the origin of the material matters.
- Elmosoft (Elmo) — chrome-free tanned semi-aniline leather, 1.1–1.3 mm, from Sweden.

One note that saves money
The manufacturer does not take back covers ordered in error. That is how the Flokk terms put it, and it applies to us as well. So before every order we would rather check once more that model, part and colour code match — a call on +49 37346 1261 is quicker than a return that does not exist.
Why the seat is not simply pulled off
So that you know what you are paying for, here is the procedure from the HÅG service instruction. It is short, but at two points it needs tools that hardly anybody has at home:
- Undo the bolt on the back support and pull the back support out of the mechanism.
- Open the seat-depth lever and push the seat back as far as it will go.
- Insert the flat band tool between seat and seat mechanism — positioned so that it covers the head of the bolt completely. Sitting beside it, the joint jams.
- Lift the seat-depth handle towards the seat shell and pull the seat off firmly, forwards.
- On reassembly the back support is again tightened to 14 Nm.
The flat band tool is Flokk's order number 149203, list price €33 net, not eligible for discount. For a single chair, buying it rarely pays — and without the tool the chances of damaging the seat shell are high.
We carry out the change in-house. You get a fixed price for cover and labour beforehand. If you are nearby: in our showroom in Geyer usually the same day.

How the change goes — on film
Flokk shows the steps on film — the manufacturer's own videos, not re-shot. The commentary is in English and every step is visible throughout; what matters most is written out above. The video is only loaded once you click it, and then plays here on the page.

First, though: try cleaning
Not every tired cover is worn through. For upholstery care HÅG prescribes just two sentences — and they appear as follows in the user manual of every chair: clean with a slightly damp or dry cloth, and do not remove any covers, do not open the seat mechanism. On wool covers such as Select and Capture, a thorough clean often achieves more than you would expect.
How long are replacements available?
Flokk guarantees spare parts for at least ten years from the production date — for every part that preserves the original function. In practice we still obtain covers for older chairs too, as long as the cover type is available. With discontinued fabrics such as Nexus that is no longer possible; in that case we pick a current one together.
