Ten years of warranty – and spare parts once it is over
HÅG gives a ten-year warranty on its office chairs. More important to you, though, is often the part that comes afterwards: spare parts are available for at least ten years from the production date of your chair. So a faulty component does not mean a new chair.
manufacturer's warranty from HÅG on the chair – with use of up to nine hours a day and a user weight of up to 110 kg.
on the gas lift, under the same conditions. It is the component that does the most work day to day.
spare-parts availability from the production date – for every part that preserves the original function.
statutory warranty of conformity towards us. It applies in addition and is not limited by the manufacturer's warranty.
What the warranty covers – and what it does not
The manufacturer's warranty covers defects in material and workmanship. It is a voluntary undertaking by HÅG and applies in addition to your statutory rights towards us; those remain unaffected by it.
| Area | Period | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Chair, mechanism, frame | 10 years | with up to 9 hours of use a day, user weight up to 110 kg |
| Gas lift | lifetime | under the same conditions of use |
| Covers from the Standard collection | 10 years | Xtreme, Select, Capture, Oceanic, Cura Loop, Paloma, Elmosoft |
| Covers from the Extended collection | 5 years | in our range this mainly affects Fame |
| Fabrics “on request” | none | customer's own fabrics are excluded from the cover warranty |
| ESD versions | 5 years | electrostatically conductive variants |
| Wear and damage | — | wear, stains, improper treatment and transit damage are not covered |
One point many people overlook: the warranty is void if parts are fitted that do not come from the manufacturer. A gas lift from an accessories dealer can therefore cost you the entire warranty claim in the event of damage. From us you get original parts.
The gas lift
HÅG gives a lifetime warranty on it – and it is at the same time the component we are asked about most often. When a chair sinks or will no longer hold its height, this is almost always the reason.
- Do not change it yourself. Gas lifts are under pressure. Removing one calls for a special tool; the replacement belongs in expert hands.
- Do not open the seat mechanism. That too costs you the warranty claim.
- Which length? On the Capisco it is 200 mm as standard (seat height 46–64 cm), and alongside that there is 150 mm for low desks and 265 mm for standing height.
Castors are wearing parts – and a question of liability
Castors are not covered by the warranty, they wear out. Two things matter here:
- Dirt on the tread attacks the floor. The manufacturer expressly accepts no liability for floor damage caused by neglected castors. A damp cloth every few months is enough.
- The castor has to suit the floor. Hard castors belong on carpet, soft ones on parquet, laminate and tiles. The wrong combination either scratches the floor or does not roll at all.
- Tighten the bolts regularly – that is what the manufacturer's care notes say, and it extends the service life noticeably.
A warranty case – how it works
Get in touch with us, not with the manufacturer. We handle it for you.
1. Get in touch
A short message with your order number and a description, with a photo if you like. It works without the order number too – we will find the transaction.
2. Production date
It is on the label under the seat. The warranty period runs from that, not from the date of purchase.
3. Assessment
Photos are often enough to establish which part is affected. Some things are a matter of adjustment and are settled in five minutes.
4. Part or repair
If it is a warranty case, the spare part comes. If it is not, you are told the price beforehand – no surprises.
Things carry on after the warranty too
A Capisco whose cover no longer suits the room does not have to be replaced. Covers, cushions, castors and footrings can be changed individually – we keep around 90 cover colours in stock. That is often a fraction of the price of a new chair, and the chair looks as it did on day one.
